A survey by the National Development and Reform Commission of 36 medium and large cities across China shows that domestic auto prices in July were down 1.93 percent year on year, down 0.33 percent from the beginning of this year, but up 0.18 percent compared with June.

Buses and trucks both saw prices rise slightly in July on a month-on-month basis, but down on a year-on-year basis. Bus prices rose 0.32 percent from June and dropped 0.06 percent from the same period last year. Truck prices gained 0.25 percent from June and slipped 1.77 percent from the same period last year.

The passenger car sector continued  the downtrend. Passenger car prices in July tumbled by 0.08, 1.66 and 4.18 percent respectively compared with June 2006, the beginning of 2006 and July 2005. Sedans, the major component of the passenger car market, experienced a 0.14 and 4.21 percent decrease in prices compared with last month and the same period last year.
