Category:[world] [CHINA] [National]

HEFEI -- He Minxu was dismissed from his post as vice governor of east China's Anhui Province by the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress on Friday.

A brief statement from the congress gave no reasons for his sacking.

He, 51, had been questioned on suspicion of accepting bribes by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the CPC's anti-corruption organ, according to a report in the Guangzhou-based 21st Century Business Herald in July.

But the report was not confirmed by other sources.

He was previously secretary of the CPC committee of Lishui City, eastern Zhejiang province and Chizhou City, Anhui Province.

He was appointed the vice governor of Anhui in June 2005.
